MAUMEE — Bowling Green scored 24 first half points and then held on for a 24-7 Northern Lakes League football victory over Maumee at Richard Kazmaier Stadium Friday.

BG is 3-6 overall and 2-4 in the NLL, while Maumee is winless in nine games in its final year in the NLL before moving to the Northern Buckeye Conference next year.

In the first quarter, Evan Brandt threw a five-yard touchdown pass to Brock Hastings and Reece Rath scored on a three-yard TD run.

In the second quarter, Jackson Shafer scored on a one-yard run and Sydney Maas kicked a 29-yard field goal as time ran out to end the first half. Maas was also 3-for-3 in conversion kicks.

Peyton Harris led BG’s offense, rushing for 114 yards on 15 carries as the Bobcats accumulated 327 yards on the ground. The Bobcats averaged over seven yards per play with 402 total yards of offense.

Shafer ran for 61 yards on eight carries, Ashton Studer had 43 yards on eight carries, Ja’ceous Shannon ran for 41 yards on five carries, Rath had 36 yards on four carries, and Brandt ran for 32 yards on seven carries.

Brandt completed 6-of-10 passes for 74 yards, including a 34-yard completion to Studer, a 15-yard pass to Hastings, and a nine-yard pass to Rath. Hastings caught four passes for 32 yards.

Maumee scored in the second quarter on a 34-yard touchdown run by Alex Lewis.
