To the Editor:
I am writing this letter in support of Doris Herringshaw, Republican candidate for Wood County
Commissioner. As some may know, I had the privilege of working with Doris for over 22 years, eleven of
those as her immediate supervisor. I knew her abilities and I knew when she became a commissioner two
years ago, she would do an outstanding job. She has definitely lived up to and even exceeded my
expectations.
Doris is an effective commissioner because she knows Wood County … the whole county, not just certain
segments or geographic areas. In her 33 years as a Wood County Extension educator, Doris became familiar
with the needs of families of all socio-economic levels, small business owners, industry leaders,
governmental officials, farm families and others. This broad experience has served her well as
commissioner.
As commissioner, Doris has shown she understands the political process of helping the county maximize its
resources while still living within its means. She has demonstrated this by helping produce a balanced
county budget even though local government funds and investment income have decreased over the years.

Wood County is fortunate to have a team of county commissioners who work well together to make Wood
County a great place to live. Let’s keep that team intact and retain Doris Herringshaw as our Wood
County Commissioner. I ask you to join me in supporting her at the polls on Nov. 4.
