Falcon baseball splits on Sunday
HIGH POINT, N.C. – Bowling Green defeated High Point, 7-4 in the second game of a doubleheader Sunday.
High Point won the opener, 4-2. The Falcons are 3-9 overall.
In its win, Bowling Green scored four times in the first inning. Top hitters for the Falcons were: T.J.
Losby, 3-for-6, double, RBI; Brandon Howard, 3-for-4, 3-for-4, two RBI; Andrew Kubuski, 2-for-4, RBI;
and Jeremy Shay, double.
In Sunday’s opener, Shay was 2-of-4 with a double and an RBI. Mike Frank pitched seven innings allowing
four hits, four earned runs with three walks and three strikeouts.
In an 11-2 loss to High Point on Saturday, five different Falcons each had one hit with Losby and Logan
Walker each driving in a run.
Falcon softball earns one win
ORLANDO, Fla. – UCF downed Bowling Green’s softball team, 2-0, in the final game of the Spring Fling. BG
is 5-12-1 overall.
Katie Yoho had BG’s only hit in the game. Jamie Kertes and Braiden Dillow combined on a six-hitter.
On Saturday, the Falcons lost 1-0 to Western Carolina and beat the University of Pennsylvania, 9-3.
In the opener, BG was held to two hits and while striking out 12 times. Dillow and Kertes combined on a
six-hitter. Western Carolina scored the only run of the game in the first inning.
In the second game, Yoho was 3-for-3 with a home run, three RBI and three runs scored for the Falcons.
Also for BG, Chelsea Raker was 2-for-4 with a double; Amanda Durham was 2-for-4; and Trista Mokienko was
2-for-4.
Kertes went the distance, allowing seven hits and one earned run with six strikeouts and six walks.
Falcon golfers finish ninth
RIO VERDE, Ariz. – The Bowling Green State University women’s golf team was ninth in the Rio Verde
Collegiate Invitational.
The Falcons finished with a 926 total. Xavier won the 18-team event with a 900.
BG’s scores were: Lily Bartell, tied for 28th, 232; Shelby Wilson, tied for 33rd, 233; Patricia Holt,
tied for 37th, 234; Hanna Lewis, tied for 45, 236; and Bailey Arnold, tied for 57th, 240.
Owens men lose
CIRCLEVILLE – Cincinnati State’s Winston Grays hit a jumper as time expired to beat Owens Community
College 79-78 in the Region XII District championship game.
Owens’ leaders were: Shaakir Lindsey, 25 points, five assists, three rebounds, three steals; Bikramjit
Gil 12 points, 10 rebounds, two blocks, two steals; and John Murry and Tony Boykins, 11 points each.
Owens finished its season 25-6.
Express women lose
CIRCLEVILLE -Cincinnati State had a 20-2 run on the way to a 71-64 win over the Owens Community College
women’s team in the Region XII District I title game.
Owens’ leaders were: Kamilah Carter, 20 points; Eboni Adams, 13 points; Ashley Tuner, 11 points; and
Paige Wright, 10 points.
Owens finished 26-3 overall.
