BG bomb threat deemed a hoax

A bomb threat made to a residence in the city Tuesday afternoon by a telephone solicitor has been deemed
to be a hoax.
Bowling Green Police Chief Brad Conner said this morning that his department received a call from the
residence, in the 200 block of South Prospect Street, at 12:54 p.m. indicating they had been speaking
with a telephone solicitor and were transferred to another individual. The resident was reportedly
asking to be taken off the solicitor’s call list.
The party at the other end of the line subsequently stated he was a terrorist, and that there was a bomb
outside of the home.
Bowling Green Police issued an alert at 1:11 p.m. indicating they were involved in activity in the area
of South Prospect and Clough streets as a result of the incident.
In the alert, people were asked to avoid the area for the following hour.
Police checked the area and found no evidence of a bomb. They issued a further message at 1:25 p.m. to
cancel the alert, indicating the threat had been deemed a hoax.
Conner said there was no caller ID information, and that they were unable to trace the call.
