Fremont theater presents musical ‘Drowsy Chaperone’
FREMONT – The Fremont Community Theatre presents the 2006 Tony Award-winning musical comedy spoof,
"The Drowsy Chaperone", weekends May 2 through May 18 at the Fremont Community Theatre, 1562
Dickinson St.
The story concerns a middle-age musical theater fan who falls asleep while listening to a recording of
his favorite musical, and the show comes to life in his New York efficiency apartment as he wryly
comments on the music, story, and actors.

Toledo Museum presents art travel scholarships
TOLEDO – Toledo Museum of Art has awarded its 2014 Palmer Scholarship.
Wesley Brown, Bowling Green, and Jennifer Giovannucci, Waterville, will share the $8,000 prize to use
toward travel expenses related to art study.
Brown, a ceramics student at Bowling Green State University, will travel to China to visit the country’s
museums and participate in a pottery workshop in the city of Jingdezhen under the tutelage of Chinese
ceramicists.
Giovannucci, who teaches anatomy and figure drawing classes at the Art Supply Depo in Toledo, will tour
Italy to study the collections of anatomical paintings at the Marciana Library and the anatomical wax
models in La Specola Museum.
Muleskinner Band to perform in Pemberville & Grand Rapids
The Muleskinner Band will share its blend of bluegrass, gospel and traditional country music in two Live
In The House Concert Series this weekend.
The southern Ohio-based string band will perform Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the Pemberville Opera House and
Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Grand Rapids Town Hall auditorium.
The four-piece Muleskinner Band has been honing its rich vocal harmonies for nearly 30 years. Their
repertoire includes Buck Owens, Patsy Cline, gospel, the Drifters, Doobie Brothers and Crosby, Stills,
& Nash. During the show the Muleskinners engage listeners with stories, humor, and good-hearted
dialogue with the audience.
Tickets for both shows are $10.

Perrysburg Symphony hosts guest performers for concert
The Perrysburg Symphony Orchestra, directed by Robert Mirakian, will perform music by Beethoven, Grieg,
Dvorak and Brahms at its spring concert Sunday at 7 p.m. in the Owens Community College’s Center for the
Fine and Performing Arts, off Oregon Road in Perrysburg Township.
Phillip Clark, adjunct faculty member and staff accompanist at the college, will be the soloist for
Grieg’s piano concerto.
The Perrysburg Junior High Orchestra will join the symphony to perform the Adagio from Dvorak’s New World
Symphony and the Finale from Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony.
The orchestra will also perform Brahms’ Symphony No. 2.
Tickets are $12, $10 for seniors and free for students and children.
Youth symphony at BGSU
Toledo Youth Symphony ensembles will present a pops concert May 5 at 7 p.m. in Kobacker Hall on the
Bowling Green State University campus.
Tickets may be purchased at the door for $10 with students admitted free.
During the concert the winners of the Toledo Symphony League Remembrance Fund scholarships will be
honored.
Lynne Long hosts recital
GRAND RAPIDS – Disney Favorites is the theme for the annual piano recital presented by the students of
Lynne E. Long Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in the First Presbyterian Church.
All students will be playing selections from Disney movies.
Students performing will be Nathaniel Born, Ava Bowen, Abby Eberly, Jacob Fritz, Sammy Head, Sedona Head,
Abigail Hergert, Elijah Hergert, Joshua Hergert, Naomi Hergert, Ruth Hergert, Gabriella Hoag, Jason
Hoag, Bethany Horen, Jason Jones, Zach Jones, Nick Korducki, Sarah Korducki, Alexander Landgraf,
Christian Morgan, Micha Shank, Brooke Simon, Morgan Simon and Moira Yaney.
The following students of Kelly Damschroder will also be performing: Amelia Simpson, Gabe Simpson, Jack
Simpson, Emily Atkinson, and Owen Atkinson.
Senior Abigail Hergert will be honored, and Morgan Simon will receive her five-year recital trophy.
A reception will follow the recital.
Way to screen ‘Last Vegas’
PERRYSBURG – "Last Vegas" will be screened as part of Way Library’s Show Me the Movie series
May 8 at 2 p.m.
This comedy stars Michael Douglas, Robert De Niro, Morgan Freeman, and Kevin Kline as old friends who
reunited to throw a Las Vegas bachelor party for the only one of them who has remained single.
No reservations are required, and admission and refreshments are free. Adults only.
BGSU German Drama Troupe to present court drama
The Bowling Green State University German Drama Troupe will perform a specially adapted version of
Heinrich von Kleists’s classic courtroom comedy "The Broken Jug" on tonight and Friday at 7
p.m. in the Student Union Theater (room 206).
The case involves a precious broken jug, a romantic couple one of whom is a suspect, and a surprise
evaluation visit to the court.
