Alzheimer’s support groups planned

According to the Alzheimer’s Association, in Ohio, more than 589,000 caregivers provide more than 671
million hours of unpaid care for friends and family members with Alzheimer’s disease and related
dementia. That care is valued at $8.267 billion. Individuals with dementia often require increasing
levels of supervision and personal care as the disease progresses. As symptoms exacerbate as the disease
progresses, the care required of family members and friends can often result in increased emotional
stress and health challenges for caregivers.
The Alzheimer’s Association, Northwest Ohio Chapter is hosting two Caregiver Support Groups:
• July 8, 7 p..m., Way Public Library, 101 E. Indiana Ave., Perrysburg – Facilitator: Lynn Ritter, for
more information, call 419-537-1999
* July 14, 2:30 p.m., BG Senior Center, 305 N. Main St. – Facilitator: David Buenting, for more
information, call 419-806-2039
These caregiver groups are free and open to the public. Registration is not required. However, it is
suggested that you contact the facilitator of the group you plan to attend for the first time to confirm
the time, place and date of the meeting.
