BG-Western baseball moved to Mercy Field
Bowling Green’s Mid-American Conference baseball series at Western Michigan has been moved to Mercy Field
in Toledo.
The series was moved because of unplayable field conditions at Western.
The teams play single games Friday at 2 p.m., Saturday at noon and Sunday at 1 p.m.
BG’s game at Cincinnati Wednesday was postponed because of rain.
BGSU softball splits
The Bowling Green State University softball team, split a nonleague doubleheader against Wright State,
losing 3-0 and posting a 6-5 win in eight innings. The Falcons are 12-17-1 overall.
In the opener, five Falcons had a single each.
In the second game, BG scored twice in the bottom of the eighth inning with Katie Yoho driving in the
winning run with a single.
Top hitters for BG were: Yoho, 2-for-5, home run, two RBI; Erica Stratton, 3-off-4; Aspen Searle,
2-for-4, double, RBI; and Madison Schrock, 2-for-2.
Owens softball wins twice
The No. 13-ranked Owens Community College softball team is off to a 2-0 start in Ohio Community College
Athletic Conference play after picking up two five-inning wins Wednesday against Lakeland Community
College. Owens is 12-2 overall.
In the first game, Owens won 12-1. The Express won game two, 10-2.
Owens’ top hitters in the opener were: Josie Hall, 2-for-3, double, triple, three RBI; Tori Weidinger,
1-for-3, home run, three RBI; an Molly Gast, double, three RBI.
Owens’ top hitters in the second game were: Weidinger, 2-for-3, two doubles, three RBI; Hall, double, two
RBI; and Emily Rockman and Haley Hudgin, double each.
Owens baseball earns split
The Owens Express baseball team split a doubleheader with Heidelberg University’s junior varsity on
Wednesday at home. Owens is 6-12.
The Express downed Heidelberg 8-6 before losing 8-4 in the second game.
Owens’ top hitters in the opener were: Alec Skender, 2-for-3, double, three RBI; Anthony Perez, double,
two RBI; and Taran Temple, double.
In the second game, five different players each had a hit for Owens with Charlie Sipe hitt a double.
