BG could learn from Perrysburg

To the Editor:
A headline on the front page of Friday’s Sentinel-Tribune stated ‘Growth brings millage rate down in
Perrysburg.” The article went on to highlight how greater building growth results in a larger tax base.
Kudos to Perrysburg, as this does not happen by accident, but through deliberate action by all facets of
city government to attract business and population to the community.
A Saturday headline in the same publication stated ‘Planning commission recommends wider sidewalks for
BG.’ Although it cannot be denied that perhaps a four-foot sidewalk might be too narrow when pedestrians
pass, especially if mobility devices are involved, for that once-a-day, week or month instance this
might actually happen, can’t people use just good, old common sense to move aside to let another pass,
if needed?
Wouldn’t it be great for Bowling Green’s governmental leaders, including the planning commission, to
focus their undivided attention on efforts that would have a truly significant impact on our city.
Can one say Woodland Mall?
