Students at the University of Findlay recently participated in the theater production “Disney’s Newsies.”
UF students participated as cast members and/or as members of the production crew.
Set in turn-of-the-century New York City, the musical portrays the tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic
newsboy and leader of a band of teenaged “newsies.” When titans of publishing raise distribution prices
at the newsboys’ expense, Jack rallies newsies from across the city to strike against the unfair
conditions and fight for what’s right.
Local students include: Ryan Bush of Fostoria, performed the role of Crutchie; Caris Conrad of Risingsun,
performed the role of a nun; Adam Dykes of Perrysburg, served as master electrician and as a flyman;
Kayla Kirkman of Perrysburg,served as a member of the run crew; and Alisha Ohanian of Perrysburg, served
as a props assistant.
Kara Ameling of Bradner was appointed a student ambassador at Baldwin Wallace University during the
spring 2019 semester.
BW Student Ambassadors is a student organization that fosters relationships between BW alumni and the
University. Ambassadors undergo a competitive selection process with finalists invited to the home of BW
President Bob and Linda Helmer for a group interview.
In the most recent selection process, Ameling, a graduate of Eastwood High School majoring in public
health, was appointed along with 20 other students.
Trine University’s Drama Club will present “The House at Pooh Corner” in the T. Furth Center for the
Performing Arts, with performances on April 7 at 2 p.m, April 8 at 10 a.m, and April 9 at 7 p.m.
All performances are free and open to the public.
Ivy Rubel, a junior from Bradner, majoring in design engineering technology, will play Rabbit.
The university is located in Angola, Indiana.
