The Christian community will begin the season of Lent on Wednesday with the observance of Ash Wednesday.

The following information was provided regarding seasonal events:
Bowling Green
“Turn away from sin and believe the Good News” is the invitation of Ash Wednesday at Trinity United
Methodist Church, the beginning of the Lenten season. Lent is a time in the life of the church when we
are invited to consider our commitment to Christ. It is a time when we are offered an opportunity at a
fresh start with God. This year the church will be trying something new for Ash Wednesday. Pastor Andrea
Curry will offer “Drive Thru Ashes” from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. As you “drive thru” the parking lot near the door
with the maroon awning, Curry will come and pray with you, give you a Lenten devotional to use
throughout the season of Lent and impose ashes on your forehead or hand.
Then at 7 p.m. the church will have a traditional worship service in the sanctuary that will offer music,
prayer, communion and the imposition of ashes.
A Lenten worship series starts March 10 entitled, “The Divine Conspiracy”… rediscovering our hidden life
in God. Each week during Lent, Curry will take a look a the sermon on the mount and see how God is
calling us to grow in our faith throughout the season of Lent.
• St Thomas More will observe Ash Wednesday with a 7 a.m. worship at the parish, a 12:30 p.m. and 5 p.m.
service at the Union Multipurpose Room and a 9 p.m. service at the parish.

Like Jesus.” The traditional imposition of ashes on the forehead will be observed, to signify our
sinfulness and mortality. A ceremony of “washing the ashes” follows.
