Bookaneers talk ’bots

Ave.
Children ages 8-10 years old are invited to discuss the selected book in a fun environment. This month we
will be discussing “House of Robots” by James Patterson.
It was never easy for Sammy Hayes-Rodriguez to fit in, so he’s dreading the day when his genius mom
insists he bring her newest invention to school: a walking, talking robot he calls E—for “Error.”
Sammy’s no stranger to robots — his house is full of a colorful cast of them. But this one not only
thinks it’s Sammy’s brother.
After a discussion, children will make a “wiggle-bot” creation. For more information, contact Alisha
Nolin, youth services librarian, at 419-874-3135 ext. 107 or [email protected].
Eat pizza, read pages
PERRYSBURG — Teens are invited to join in a book discussion and eat pizza on May 5 from 3:30-4:30 p.m. at
Way Public Library, 101 E. Indiana Ave.
This month’s selection is “Paper Hearts” by Meg Wiviott. Amid the brutality of Auschwitz during the
Holocaust, a forbidden gift helps two teenage girls find hope, friendship and the will live in the novel
that’s based on a true story. Making a birthday card in Auschwitz was forbidden. But that is what Zlatka
did, in 1944, for her best friend, Fania. She stole and bartered for paper and scissors, creating an
origami heart. Then she passed it to every girl at the work tables to sign with their hopes and wishes
for happiness, for love and for freedom. Fania kept it hidden, through the bitter days in the camp and
through the death marches.

Audition for ‘Urinetown’
FREMONT — The Fremont Community Teen Theatre will host auditions for the 2002 Tony Award winning musical
comedy, “Urinetown: The Musical,” May 14 and 15 at 6:30 p.m. at the theater, 1562 Dickinson St.
With Tony award-winning music and lyrics by Mark Hollman and Greg Kotis, the story satirizes capitalism,
bureaucracy, corporate mismanagement and small town politics.
A 20-year drought has caused a terrible water shortage, making private toilets unthinkable. All restroom
activities are done in public toilets controlled by a megacorporation called “Urine Good Company.” To
control water consumption, the community has to pay to use the amenities until a young idealist starts a
revolution.
All audition applicants must be ages 13-19. Applicants must prepare a musical comedy style vocal
selection. An accompanist will be available. Production dates are July 13-16. For further information,
e-mail director Diana Cepeda at [email protected].
