Perrysburg teen invites others to step up and go bald to support cancer patients

Perrysburg High School sophomore Connie Christiansen has been shaving her head in support of childhood
cancer patients since she was 10 years old.
By participating in St. Baldrick’s events around Northwest Ohio, she has personally raised several
thousand dollars to fund research grants.
In 2015, Christiansen was honored as a Compassionate Hero for her work to support this charity. She also
volunteers with PASA (Perrysburg Alternatives to Substance Abuse) and the Toledo Zoo’s summer ZooTeens
program.
On April 29, Christiansen will host her own St. Baldrick’s event in conjunction with the congregation of
First Unitarian Church of Toledo, 3205 Glendale Ave., beginning at 1 p.m. She invites and challenges
others to step up and go bald to raise money for this cause.
The Greater Toledo Shave for the Brave 2017 is from 1-5 p.m.
More information can be found at the event website:

Christiansen has set a goal for this fundraiser of $5,000, but at least one local celebrity (remaining
anonymous for now) has hinted that he will shave his long locks if the event can raise twice that much.

The St. Baldrick’s Foundation is a volunteer-powered charity that funds more in childhood cancer research
grants than any organization except the U.S. government.
