PERRYSBURG — Levis Commons has announced that staff members will undergo training in the use of Narcan, a
drug used to treat overdoses, later this month.
“As Northwest Ohio continues to rank amongst the top areas in the nation for heroin use and overdose,
Levis Commons is taking a proactive approach to the epidemic with proper training for the administration
of Narcan, the emergency treatment for known or suspected overdose,” a release stated.
The release said Levis Commons employees including security, cleaning, management staff and grounds crews
will be trained on Jan. 27 by the Urban Minority Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Outreach Program of Lucas
County on how to identify a possible overdose and administer the medication.
“We want to be prepared to act as quickly as possible if needed,” said Allison Schroeder, Levis Commons
marketing director.
