The Notre Dame Academy Board of Trustees has announced the appointment of Kim Grilliot as the school’s
next president, effective immediately. The appointment has been approved by Notre Dame Educational
Ministries, as required under the Sisters of Notre Dame’s reserve powers as NDA’s sponsor.
Grilliot, who has served NDA for 13 years in positions of increasing responsibility, succeeds Sister Mary
Ann Culpert (NDA ’75). Sister Mary Ann was elected in October to a six-year term in Rome as a worldwide
councilor to the superior general of the Sisters of Notre Dame.
Grilliot has been serving as interim president and principal since Sr. Mary Ann’s election
“When we considered our options for finding a suitable successor to Sister Mary Ann, we realized we
already had the best candidate in our midst. As a result, the board unanimously decided not to conduct a
national search until we thoroughly vetted Kim as a candidate,” said NDA Board Chair John Kraus.
Grilliot joined NDA in 2003 as vice principal, and was promoted to principal in 2005. Among her
accomplishments as principal are the implementation of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Pro-gramme,
the addition of grades 7 and 8, expansion of college credit programs, installation of technological
advancements, introduction of summer credit programs, enrollment of international students and most
recently the introduction of the SportsLeader program, which infuses NDA athletic programs with Catholic
values.
“In the 13 years I have been at NDA, it’s been my privilege to carry out the SND educational mission and
see how it transforms the lives of young women. I look forward to maintaining that tradition while
leading our strategic planning to develop new ways to bring an exceptional education permeated with
Gospel values to the young women of Toledo,” said Grilliot.
She holds superintendent, educational administrative and teaching licenses from the Ohio Department of
