Cocoon Shelter gets $20G grant

The Board of Trustees of Toledo Community Foundation, Inc. recently awarded grants totaling $250,574 from
its Community Funds and $5,100 from one restricted fund to eight area nonprofit organizations.  
Grants from the Foundation’s Community Funds (aka unrestricted funds) are considered two times annually,
and are awarded only to nonprofit, charitable organizations. The next deadline for receipt of proposals
for Community Funds is Sept. 15, 2015. Toledo Community Foundation is the largest philanthropic
organization in Northwest Ohio, committed to building healthy communities and promoting the responsible
stewardship of resources.
Grants were recently awarded to the following organizations:
•    Advocates for Basic Legal Equality, Inc. – $35,000 to support outreach, advocacy and legal services
to those eligible for federal immigration relief programs.
•    Catholic Charities, Diocese of Toledo, Inc. – $40,000 to support the expansion of the volunteer and
community involvement program.
•    The Cocoon Shelter – $20,361 to support the expansion of services for victims of domestic violence
in and around Wood County.
•    National Church Residences – $67,895 to initiate a workforce development program for formerly
homeless and disabled veterans and other residents of Chestnut Hill and The Commons at Garden Lake
permanent supportive housing facilities.
