Gartz presents organ concert
PERRYSBURG – Michael Gartz will present an organ recital Saturday at 7 p.m. in St. Rose Church, 215 Front
St.
The performance is offered as part of the St. Tim’s Discovers series, sponsored by St. Timothy’s
Episcopal Church, Perrysburg.
Gartz is the music director at St. Timothy’s, organ instructor at Bowling Green State University and
former organist at St. Rose.
Gartz will perform music by J.S. Bach, Handel, Andriessen, Leighton, Hidas, Dupre and Guilmant.He will be
joined on some pieces by guests soloists Cheryl Babb, soprano and Phil Smith, trumpet and trombone.
 
Jazz septet pays tribute to sound of big bands
TOLEDO – The Toledo Jazz Orchestra Septet  will open the Black & White Sedan Bistro Series at the
Toledo Club, 235 14th Street, Sunday at 3 p.m. with a tribute to big bands.
The septet will play the arrangements of greats including Count Basie, Tommy Dorsey, Benny Goodman, Glenn
Miller and Artie Shaw.
The Toledo Jazz Orchestra Septet, led by trombonist Ron Kischuk, features Jeff Halsey, bass, Dan
Maslanka, drums, Russ Miller and Gene Parker, clarinet and saxophones,  Johnny Trudell, trumpet, and Tad
Weed, piano.
Featured with the septet will be vocalist Mark Randisi, singing Frank Sinatra favorites as arranged by
Motown arranger David Van De Pitte.

Toledo Symphony concert devoted to Mozart works
SYLVANIA – The Toledo Symphony Orchestra will present an all-Mozart concert Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at The
Franciscan Center of Lourdes University, 6832 Convent Blvd.
Conducted by Stefan Sanderling, the orchestra will perform Divertimentio No. 11. Eva Nina Kozmus will be
the soloist for Mozart’s Flute Concerto No. 1 and Danae Dorken will be soloist for Piano Concerto No.
21.
