School closings hurt students and parents

To the Editor:
This is insane. In the past week schools have been closed three times and delayed three more times. This
year they have closed for fog! Fog! I don’t know what is going through the school boards’ minds. All
these delays and cancellations are not benefiting the school because less school time equals less
teaching time which equals worse test scores which equals less funding. They don’t benefit the parents
because now they have to find a place for their children while they’re at work. The only person it
benefits is maybe the kids so they can go sledding for six extra hours. As a student of a private school
in Toledo who has only had one school closing, I find this very irresponsible of the school board. They
could blame the cancellations on cold or snow but how can they explain how some buses in other schools
can drive through multiple school zones without a problem.
