government dysfunctional. They noted the state fell wellbelow the national average on the Better
Government Association’s"integrity index" and got a nearly-failing grade in the Georgia
PublicInterest Research Group’s review of spending transparency.Democratsproposed expanding disclosure
and reporting requirements for theprivate nonprofit job-creation office JobsOhio and the state
tax-creditauthority. They’d also revise Ohio’s redistricting process, requirelegislative committees to
be broadcast, and make the state watchdogindependent.Republican House Speaker William
Batchelder’sspokesman calls the effort hypocritical. He says Batchelder was thefirst to broadcast state
