Bible team raising funds for national trip

Dayspring Assembly of God’s Junior Bible Quiz team is raising fund to
compete next month at the JBQ National Festival near Dallas.To help with costs for the trip the team is
hosting two "Harlan Chicken Dinner" fundraiser Friday and May 31 from 4 to 7 p.m. at
Dayspring, 17360 N. Dixie Hwy.Pull up in the car and drive away with a chicken dinner for $8.It includes
a half barbecue chicken, potatoes, green beans and the utensils. Cash or check only.Team members are
Shani Estep, Luke Kobylski, Johanna Slembarski, Madison Wilkerson and Annie Valantine.They finished 10th
earlier this month at the Great Lakes Regional Competition, which was held at Dayspring.Individually,
Shani earned a sixth-place finish. Their team placement qualified them to compete June 6-8 at the JBQ
National Festival.Their team, Epic, finished with a 10-9 record, averaging 170 points per round.Not only
do the members prepare by memorizing Bible verses, they also have to "buzz in" first on a
question in order to answer it.Prior to the regional competition, the team ranked first in their league
with a 23-0 record, competing against other Northwest Ohio teams. A round of JBQ competition consists of
20 questions of varying difficulty. The harder the question, the more it is worth.At the national event
they will compete with over 80 teams in 15 rounds the first day, then nine rounds the final day.The last
time Dayspring’s JBQ team completed at nationals was 2010 where the team was 14th in the nation.On the
