Lisa Lea Smith, 50, passed away on April 6 in Chesterton, Indiana with her family by her side
after a long battle with cancer.She was born on February 24, 1963 in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Henry Leo Griffith
and Evelyn Rose Meisberger, who preceded her in death.She is survived by daughters Katherine Helene Smith
and Hannah Jean Smith of Chesterton, and their father Andrew D. Smith, also of Chesterton. Other survivors
include her brother, Thomas (Suzy) Griffith of Daytona, Fla., sisters Carol (Jack) Gallegos of Cincinnati,
Ohio, Julie Nordstrom, Denver, Colo., Mary (David) Otis, Atlanta, Ga., Tina (Greg) Walsh, Park Ridge, Ill.
and in-laws Larry and Colleen Smith, Bowling Green, Ohio, plus numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and
uncles.Lisa graduated from Bowling Green State University in 1985 with a degree in Technical Writing and
worked in Ohio, Washington, D.C. and North Carolina before settling in Chesterton in 1992.She worked as the
Publications Assistant for the Law Review and Dean’s Assistant at Valpo University School of Law, and most
recently was employed in Human Resources at Franciscan St. Anthony Hospital in Michigan City,
Ind.Arrangements have been entrusted with Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home in Chesterton. The family
will receive visitors at the Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 9 from 3 to 8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at
St. Francis Episcopal Church on Wednesday, April 10 at 10 a.m. Internment at Chesterton Cemetery.Memorials
may be given to the Children’s Education Fund or to St. Francis Episcopal Church, 237 3. 1200 N. Chesterton,
IN 46304.
