Area man given 8 years for solicitation

A Toledo man will be serving eight years in prison for his crimes in three separate cases
involving solicitation for nude modeling, including minors.Daniel Jones, 35, was sentenced to the
eight-year sentence by Wood County Common Pleas Court Judge Reeve Kelsey for engaging in a pattern of
corrupt activity and 12 months for pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor.The two cases
were merged and ordered to be served concurrently. He must also register as a Tier II sexual offender.
The defendant must also pay a fine of $10,000.According to the indictment and police reports, from Oct.
1, 2011 through Jan. 9, 2012, Jones solicited underage girls via Facebook to perform nude webcam
modeling. The resulting charges included multiple pandering charges along with money laundering and
attempted tampering with evidence.He used his Jones Accounting Services business to transfer and process
money received from the illicit activity.In the third case Jones was given 17 months in prison for
attempted tampering with evidence for his actions last January in trying to conceal the other crimes.
That time was also ordered to be concurrent with the other cases.The indictment lists activities in late
2011 involving more than $1,000 in checks deposited into the accounting business from MyFreeCams. The
payments were from recruiting both adults and juveniles for nude web cam modeling and possible sexual
activity. There were six different underage female victims listed in the indictment ranging from as
young as 14.As part of his sentence, Jones must forfeit a cell phone, a GPS, two flash drives, a laptop
computer and a digital camera.Upon his release from prison he will be subject to five years of post
release control sanctions. Three years of post-release sanctions was imposed on the tampering charge.He
was given credit for 302 days of time served in jail.
