The Penta Board of Education approved its general fund budget at its meeting Wednesday.
The fund will hold steady for this school year at about $26.4 million.
Treasurer Carrie Herringshaw reported that the cost of salaries will be down 4 percent from last school
year.
Teachers agreed to a salary freeze last school year. In that year, Herringshaw said, there were 27 pay
days. This year there will be 26, saving the school money.
The cost of insurance, however, continues to increase – up 13 percent for health insurance and up 8
percent for dental insurance.
She said revenue from the state will be the same, but a change is expected next July.
Local funds are expected to increase by $200,000, she said. The Penta Board of Education approved its
