Prep Roundup: Perrysburg boys win Columbus Grove Invitational (09-04-12)

Perrysburg’s boys won the Red Division championship Saturday at the Columbus Grove
Invitational cross country meet.
The Yellow Jackets had 94 points to beat 19 other teams.
Also from Wood County, Elmwood was eighth with 201 and Lake was 10th with 219.
Perrysburg’s Bryant Byrd was fourth in 16:49, while teammate Andrew Bayes was eighth
in 17:09.
Lake had two runners in the top 10 – Scott Brittenham was ninth in 17:11 and Tyler
Rickman was 10th in 17:17.
Completing Perrysburg’s top five were: Bobby Borger, 20th, 17:37; Parker Calvin,
24th, 17:42; and Matt Studer, 38th, 18:24.
Completing Lake’s top five were: Orfrancis Ozuna, 30th, 17:59; Sean Harger, 84th,
19:55; and Dustin Preble, 90th, 90th, 20:09.
Elmwood’s top five were: Lorne Strausbaugh, 15th, 17:27; Alex Jasso, 25th, 17:49;
Josh Mathias, 39th, 18:25; Andrew Jasso, 48th, 18:36; and Jacob Nungester, 76th,
19:33.
In the boys Gray Division, Perrysburg’s B team finished 11th with 295 points.
Perrysburg’s top five were: Trevor Somogyi, 50th, 18:55; Joseph Soneson, 53rd, 19:03;
Eric Billmaier, 65th, 19:27; Clayton Shook, 68th, 19:30; and Hunter Frydenlund,
76th, 19:42.
In the girls Red Division, Elmwood was seventh with 223 points and Lake was 17th with
411.
Elmwood’s top five were: Miranda Wagner, 21st, 22:00; Brittany Gross, 27th, 22:12;
Madison Reinhard, 57th, 23:17; Emma Krassow, 61st, 23:27; and Keli Bradford,
65th, 23:34.
Lake’s top five were: Amber Soncrant, 53rd, 23:01; Vanessa Warton, 79th, 24:02;
Marissa Boos, 102nd, 24:47; Alana Smith, 107th, 25:04; and Adriana Cannon,
117th, 25:17.

Perrysburg finishes 10th
At the Avon Lake Early Bird Invitational, Perrysburg finished 10th in the 17-team
Maroon Division at Lorain Community College.
Perrysburg’s top five were: Taylor Monheim, 16th 21:06; Katie Menke, 26th, 21:35;
Jessica Bohnenkamp, 43rd, 22:18; Emily Henry, 45th, 22:20; and Allie Prybelski,
67th, 23:48.
VOLLEYBALL
Perrysburg wins
In Oregon, Perrysburg improved to a 3-1 overall with a 21-25, 25-23, 25-18, 28-26
nonleague win over Clay.
Perrysburg’s Alyssa Beach, 19 kills, five blocks; Maddy Perry, six kills, three
blocks; Steph Richards, nine kills, three blocks, 10 digs; and Lindsay Smith, 33
assists, five kills, three blocks.
Lakota loses
In Kansas, Arcadia was a 25-18, 25-14, 25-7 winner over Lakota in a nonleague match.

Lakota’s leaders were: Katie Park, five kills; Makayla Kiser, three aces; Alaina
Bickford, 16 digs; and Stephanie Miller, nine assists, two aces, nine digs.
BOYS GOLF
BGHS finishes eighth
In Findlay, Bowling Green finished eighth in the Black Knight Invitational at Red
Hawk Run Saturday.
Cincinnati St. Xavier won the 20-team event with a 299. The Bobcats shot 319.
BG’s scorers were: Nolan Dill, 77; Andrew Herringshaw and Trey Walker, 79 each; and
Phillip Rich and Tyler Remeis, 84 each.
GIRLS GOLF
Lima CC 181, BGHS 230
At Hawthorne Hills in Lima Friday, BG’s scores were: Erica Rybak, Erin Peterson, both
48; Alisha Noon, 49; and Mickayla Thompson, 85.
