Horn to compete in nationals
Maria Horn, from Bowling Green, has qualified for three events in the 11-12 age
division at the USATF National Junior Olympics Track and Field Championships.

The national meet is this week at Morgan State University’s Hughes Stadium in
Baltimore.
In the regionals at Cedarville University earlier this month, Horn was second in the
100 (13.28); third in the 200 (27.71); and second in the 400 (1:02.96).
Owens golf team hosts scramble
SYLVANIA -The Owens Community College men’s golf program is hosting the sixth annual
Owens 4-Person Golf Scramble on Aug. 18 at Spuyten Duyval Golf Club. The
scramble benefits the golf program.
The cost is $300 for a team of four or $75 per player. The deadline to sign up is
Aug. 15. There is a maximum of 32 teams.
The scramble begins with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.
Participants will get 18 holes of golf, the use of a golf cart, two drink tickets,
burgers and bratwurst. Additionally, there will also be door prizes, a 50/50
raffle, betting holes, and other prizes.

Buckeye Heat tryouts set
Tryouts for the Buckeye Heat travel softball program have been set.
They are: Aug. 5, 12U from 3-5 p.m. at Southview High School; Aug. 5, 10U from 3-5 at
Elmwood High School; Aug. 7 14U-18U from 5:30-8 and 15U/16U from 8:30-10:30 at
Southview; Aug. 8, 10U-14U from 5:30-8 and 15U/16U from 8:30-10:30 at Southview;
Aug. 9, all ages 5:30-8:30 at Elmwood; and Sept. 11, last chance tryouts,
10U-12U, from 3-5 and 15U/16U from 5:30-7:30 at Southview.
Owens CC schedules baseball tryouts
The Owens Community College baseball program is holding and open tryout for a this
coming year on Aug. 24 at 10 a.m. at the Express baseball field on the Toledo
campus.
Anyone interested should bring a copy/proof of a physical and their own
equipment/gear.
