90TH BIRTHDAY: Raye Klopfenstein

Raye Klopfenstein, Bowling Green, is celebrating his 90th birthday.
He was born May 21, 1922 on the family farm on Klopfenstein Road. His
great-grandfather was one of Bowling Green’s pioneer settlers, arriving in 1837.

A World War II Navy veteran, Klopfenstein trained as an aircraft propeller mechanic
and flew on blimps on submarine patrol over the Atlantic-Caribbean.
He worked as a salesman at Henderson Supply in Bowling Green, then at the Rossford
Ordnance Depot until it closed in 1962, and finally at the Warren Tank
Automotive Command in Michigan.
Klopfenstein and his wife, Ruth, currently reside at Heritage Corner.
He has one son, Raye Jr., Bowling Green; two grandchildren, William and Marie; and
three great-grandchildren.
