FREMONT – The home of the nation’s first presidential library celebrates Presidents’
Day by hosting a special event and observing special operating hours.
Beginning Friday and continuing through Monday, the Hayes Presidential Center offers
visitors a chance to tour the estate of 19th U.S. President Rutherford B. Hayes
using the form of transportation he used – a horse drawn sleigh.
Sleigh rides through Spiegel Grove take place from 1 to 4 p.m. each day, and cost $3
per rider.
Rides are provided by South Creek Clydesdales. Tickets for Sleigh Rides through
Spiegel Grove are available on the days of the event in the lobby of the Hayes
Museum. Riders are reminded to dress according to outdoor temperatures.
In addition to the sleigh rides, the Hayes Museum is open for tours. Although the
museum usually is closed on Mondays, it will be open noon to 5 p.m. next Monday

The center’s newest exhibit The Wildlife Art of Bob Hines can be viewed by visitors.
The exhibit continues through Aug. 13.
Visitors are reminded that the Hayes Home is temporarily closed to allow for
restoration work to continue.
The home will reopen March 1.
