Ralph B. Nelson, 88, of Bowling Green, died January 29, 2012 at Bridge Hospice Care
Center in Bowling Green.
He was born May 28, 1923 to Henry and Hannah (Kallioinen) Nelson in Munising, MI.
Ralph worked as an Assistant Professor at BGSU in the Technology Dept. He taught
drafting, design and architecture.
He retired in 1985. Ralph was an apprentice at Ford Motor Co. from 1942-43 and he
served in the U.S. Army until 1946. Ralph received his B.S. degree from Northern
Michigan College in 1950 and his M.A. degree from Michigan State University in
1955.
He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Tontogany, OH, The Toledo
Scandinavian Club, Toledo Chapter of the China, Burma, India and Veterans of
WWII.
He married Betty Ann (Tostenson) August 20, 1956. She preceded him in death in 2002.

He is survived by son, John (Jeanna) Nelson of Bowling Green, OH, grandson, Gunnar
Nelson of Bowling Green, OH and brothers, Gordon (Deanna) Nelson of AuTrain, MI
and David Nelson of Wetmore, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife,
brother, Ray and sister, Caroline.
Friends and family may call Wednesday, February 1, 2012 from 6 – 8 p.m. at Peinert
Funeral Home, Tontogany, OH. Funeral Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in the
funeral home. Interment will follow at Union Hill Cemetery.
