Prep Roundup: BG girls rout Maumee (1-7-12)

Bowling Green’s girls improved to 6-2 overall and 3-1 in the Northern Lakes League with a 63-33 win
Friday over Maumee.
In other games in the NLL, it was: Anthony Wayne 44, Perrysburg 42; Napoleon 43, Springfield 34; and
Northview 48, Southview 44.
In boys Northern Buckeye Conference games, it was: Eastwood 44, Elmwood 31; Lake 74, Otsego 59; Rossford
56, Genoa 53; and Woodmore 55,Fostoria 48.
In boys Midland Athletic League games, it was: Lakota 46, Fostoria St. Wendelin 45; and Fremont St.
Joseph 73, North Baltimore 34.
And in a Toledo Area Athletic Conference girls game, Northwood defeated Cardinal Stritch, 48-44.
GIRLS
BGHS 63, Maumee 33
In Maumee, Hayley Williford scored 13 points and Chelsey Morelock had 12 for BG.
Jenna Stoner added nine points and 10 rebounds for BG, which led 44-16 at the half.
For Maumee (3-6, 0-4), Joeal Olman scored 13 points and Eliza Theaker had 12.
Northwood 48,
Cardinal Stritch 44
In Northwood, the Rangers built a 29-19 lead after three quarters to run their record to 5-3, 4-1.
Becca Bisbee scored 13 points and Alayna Martinez added 11 for Northwood.
Abby Mass had 24 points for Stritch (2-7, 2-3).
BOYS
Rossford 56, Genoa 53
In Rossford, Manny Durden scored 21 points, Drew Brock added 10 points, and Larry Sloan had eight points
and 14 rebounds to improve 3-1 in the NBC.
The Bulldogs, 3-6 overall, took a 33-23 lead at the half and held off Genoa (3-4, 0-4).
Joey Newland led Genoa with 22 points, and Mark Vogelpohl added 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Lakota 46,
Fostoria St. Wendelin 45
In Fostoria, Brian Vamos split two free throws with 1.4 seconds left to complete Lakota’s comeback from a
22-15 deficit at the half.
Kody Brewer scored 16 points and Chris Robbins added 11 for Lakota (2-9, 1-5).
St. Wendelin fell to 4-8, 2-4.
Fremont St. Joseph 73,
North Baltimore 34
In Fremont, St. Joseph had four players finish in double figures. St. Joseph is 6-3 overall and 3-1 in
the MAL.
Austin Davis scored 12 points for NB (0-9, 0-4), Evan North had nine rebounds and Jacob Frost had seven
assists.
HOCKEY
St. John’s 7, BGHS 1
In Sylvania, fourth-ranked St. John’s scored two power-play goals and two short-handed goals in a
Northwest Hockey Conference Red Division game at Tam-O-Shanter.
BG’s Reid Mankowski scored a power-play goal to tie the game 1-1 at 6:01 of the first period, but St.
John’s twice in the final seven minutes of the period for a 3-1 lead.
St. John’s improved to 11-4-1 overall and 3-1 in the NHC. BG is 6-8-1, 0-3.
The Bobcats were out-shot by a 39-16 margin. BG’s Tanner Fausnaugh made 32 saves.
