Play the flute, make crafts at Foundation

PERRYSBURG – Flute and fun classes for children will be offered next month at the 577 Foundation at 577
E. Front St.
Pre-registration required for all classes at www.577foundation.org or (419-) 874-4174.
• Partners in Fun is an art project class for 3 to 4 year olds with an adult. The leader is Carol
Jambard-Sweet and the limit is 14 per class.
The classes are Tuesdays from 10 to 11 a.m. The fee is $5 per child.
For Tuesday’s class Thanksgiving is around the bend and the class will tie-dye some beautiful turkeys.

On Nov. 8, make Native American crafts. The Nov. 15 theme is pilgrims on the Mayflower.
For Nov. 22, bring a sweet tooth. Everyone makes pies for Thanksgiving. Let’s bake "four &
twenty blackbirds" in a pie and see if they sing.
Make a squirrel on Nov. 29.
• A beginner Native American flute class will be held Nov. 5 from 10 a.m. to noon.
This class includes ownership of a hand-crafted 6-hole cedar Native American styled flute, basic
instruction, handouts including fingering chart, an original and traditional song to play.
The leader is David Rogers and class is limited to 10. The fee is $40.
• An intermediate Native American flute class for third-graders through adults will be held Nov. 5 from 1
to 3 p.m.
Continue develop the ability to play the Native American flute. Includes review of performance basics,
ideas for greater creativity, guide to reading music and Nakai Tablature, embellishments, vibrato,
special effects and forms of articulation. Bring a five or six-hole Native American flute. Participants
must be able to play the Native American flute’s natural scale
Rogers is the leader and class is limited to 10. The fee is $40.
