Perrysburg driver in critical condition after I-75 crash

TOLEDO – A Perrysburg man remains in critical condition at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center after he
reportedly caused a fatal traffic accident while driving the wrong way on Interstate 75.
Alcohol is suspected as a factor in the crash.
According to an accident report provided by the Sentinel-Tribune’s news partner, Fox Toledo, just before
11 p.m. Saturday, Christopher Jones, 35, Perrysburg, reportedly was driving south in the northbound
lanes of I-75 near the Phillips Road exit when he struck a vehicle driven by Dawn Lerma, 40, Toledo,
which was northbound on I-75. The two vehicles collided head-on.
One of Lerma’s passengers, Matthew Davis, 37, Toledo, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police report he
had not been wearing a seatbelt.
Lerma and her three other passengers – Bryan Davis, 9, Nikole Merma, 15, and Lawrence Moser, 14, all of
Toledo – were taken to Mercy St. Vincent’s, where they were listed in serious condition.
Authorities are not yet certain where Jones entered onto I-75.
