Safety checks in Risingsun
RISINGSUN – The Risingsun Police Department will be conducting a safety check point on Saturday, from 10
p.m. to 2 a.m. on U.S. 23 at Main Street.
I-475 closes on Monday
The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) is reminding motorists that construction work on I-475, on
the bridge over the Maumee River, begins on Monday.
Work on the $4.9 million bridge rehabilitation project, includes overlying the bridge deck, repairing
expansion joints, approach slabs and bridge frames. During construction, I-475 will be reduced to one
lane in each direction. Additionally, the ramps from both eastbound and westbound U.S. 24 to southbound
I-475 will be closed.
Woman injured in Tuesday crash
One woman was taken to Wood County Hospital Tuesday following an accident at Bishop and Brim roads north
of Bowling Green.
The Wood County Sheriff’s Office reported that at 7:58 p.m. Sedrick McGlaston, Fremont, driving a 1998
Cadillac STS, was stopped at the stop sign on Brim Road and then failed to yield the right of way,
entering into the lane of travel of a westbound 2010 Ford Escape driven by Desiree Fostervold, Bowling
Green.
Fostervold then traveled off the roadway right and overturned. She was taken to the hospital by Mid
County EMS with non-incapacitating injuries.
McGlaston and his three passengers were uninjured.
McGlaston was cited for failure to yield right of way at a stop sign.
NAMI to host fund raiser
NAMI Wood County is selling tickets for Twylite Thursday, an event at The Pinnacle in Maumee.
Each Thursday throughout the summer, you can find delicious food, live music and great drinks all for a
great cause. The proceeds from Aug. 11 will go to benefit NAMI Wood County. The tickets are $10 and can
