Paul R. Tolles, 78, of Toledo, Ohio and formerly of Grand Rapids, Ohio passed away peacefully on
Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at Toledo Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Weston, Ohio, to Jay and Clara Tolles on Nov. 21, 1932. He attended Anthony Wayne and
Neapolis Schools.
He retired from General Motors in Toledo, Ohio after 36 years of service.
He served in the Korean War from 1950-1954. He was a member of the Grand Rapids American Legion Post 232,
former volunteer firefighter for Grand Rapids fire department, avid camper at Twin Acres Campground and
loved spending time with his family and friends.
He married Karen Cook in Toledo, Ohio on Oct. 15, 1976.
He is survived by his loving wife: Karen; sons: Rick of Grand Rapids, Ken (Sue) of Deshler; daughters:
Brenda Tolles of Bowling Green, Linda (James) Kepling of Grand Rapids, Cindy Fackler of Grand Rapids,
Mary (Lester) Helberg of Custar; stepson: Neal Cook (Faith Yingling) of Toledo; stepdaughter: Dawn Cook
of Toledo; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; brothers: James Leland of Grand Rapids, Richard of
Defiance, Norman of Weston; sisters: Dorothy Law of Dayton, Donna Thielman of Dayton, Beulah Sautter of
Grand Rapids, Lucille Barton of Grand Rapids, and Betty Gordon of Grand Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters: Ruth Duval, Lorabel Apger; and brother: Alvin.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to all of the doctors, especially Dr. Ronald Wainz
and the 9th floor east west wing Nurses for all their excellent care of our father and husband.
Friends and family will be received at the Wright-Habegger Funeral Home, 24084 W. Second Street, Grand
Rapids, Ohio 43522, on Friday, July 29, 2011 from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday July 30, 2011 from
noon to 1 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 30, 2011 at 1 p.m. also at the
Wright-Habegger Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be gifted in Paul’s honor to the Toledo Children’s Hospital and Hospice of
Northwest Ohio.
