Perrysburg, Autumn Bodi, Genoa, and James Cass, Swanton, with the box built for a vegetable
garden.

PERRYSBURG – As part of a $1500.00 grant from the Scotts/ Miracle-Gro Company of Marysville, the Penta
Career Center’s Landscape and Turfgrass Management program has developed a community garden located on
their Perrysburg campus.
The students designed and built a raised garden bed where they will be raising vegetables such as
carrots, radishes and lettuce. As an extension of this garden project, 15 container garden planters
filled with herbs were planted in a partnership with the Culinary Arts program. The vegetables and herbs
raised will be donated The Cherry Street Mission in Toledo and other local soup kitchens in the
Perrysburg area.
This year’s gardening project is only the beginning. As the plants grow, so will the project expand with
the development of multiple raised garden beds and landscape construction projects.
