Filieres hold 56th reunion
The 56th Filiere family reunion was held June 26 at Bowling Green City Park with 25 in attendnace from
Ohio, New York and Pennsylvania.
There were 77 people present at the first Filiere reunion held in Farnsworth Park in Waterville, with
Doyce "Frenchy" Filiere serving as president and Marian Dunn Welling as secretary. Frenchy’s
son Bob is now president and his wife Barb is the secretary.
Some of the original Filiere family members migrated from France to the U.S. in the 19th century,
settling in Milton and Liberty townships in Wood County. Others settled in Lucas County. A discussion
was held as to how everyone present became related.
The group voted to schedule next year’s reunion for the same time and place.
‘America’s Next Top Model’ auditions Saturday
TOLEDO – A casting call for the 18th cycle of "America’s Next Top Model" will be held Saturday
from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at Westfield Franklin Park Mall, 5001 Sylvania Ave. CW Channel 5 will hold
on-camera auditions in the mall’s food court.
Previous casting calls have seen more than 100 applicants each.
The call is open to women ages 18 to 27, who are at least 5 feet 7 inches tall and American citizens.
There is no weight requirement. Applicants should bring with them a completed application, three photos
of themselves and a copy of their driver’s license or passport, and social security card or birth
certificate. Applications are available online on the contest page at Toledo5.com.
A tape of all the area applicants will be sent directly to the casting director, along with their
applications, copies of IDs and photos. One winner will also be selected from those who audition to
receive a mall prize package.
America’s Next Top Model, seen Wednesdays at 8 p.m., follows a group of young women who live together and
vie for a grand prize which will include a modeling contract. The finalists compete in a modeling boot
camp that includes mentoring by supermodel Tyra Banks.
