Three local residents were among the 575 students who received degrees during commencement exercises at
Grove City College in May. Luke Johnston, Pemberville, earned a bachelor of arts degree in sociology. He
is a 2007 graduate of Eastwood High School and is the son of Rev. and Mrs. Peter Johnston. Annie
Stewart, Rossford, earned a bachelor of science degree in mathematics. A 2007 graduate of Rossford High
School, she is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Stewart. Lisa Herman, Perrysburg, earned a bachelor
of arts degree in political science and Spanish. She is a 2007 graduate of Toledo Christian Schools and
is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Toby Herman.
Ohio Northern University presented the Dankook Award to Kyle R. Stinehart, a 2011 graduate from
Pemberville, and Kyle S. Simmons, a 2011 graduate from North Lawrence, in a ceremony prior to the
undergraduate commencement on May 22. The award is an annual reciprocal award exchanged between Dankook
University in South Korea and Ohio Northern University. It recognizes students with outstanding records
in academics, student leadership, co-curricular activities and service. Stinehart, who graduated with a
4.0 grade point average, received a bachelor of science in molecular biology and a bachelor of science
in business administration (management). He was a member of Northern Without Borders, the American
Cancer Society of Colleges against Cancer, Habitat for Humanity, the College of Arts & Sciences
student advisory board, student senate leaders council, and President’s Club. He has research experience
at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and ONU’s Raabe College of Pharmacy. He has been
inducted into several honoraries, including ONU Mortar Board, Omicron Delta Kappa, Beta Beta Beta, Phi
Eta Sigma and Phi Kappa Phi.
Rachel Wood, of Perrysburg, recently graduated from the University of Mount Union in Alliance with a
bachelor of arts degree in music. She graduated with summa cum laude honors.
Chelsea Keeler, Perrysburg, has made the dean’s list for Franklin & Marshall College’s spring
semester. The college is located in Lancaster, Penn. She earned at least a 3.25 gpa.
