Breast cancer fundraiser to include poker run, 5K and theme semi

WAYNE – "Trucking for the Cure" is driving into town next weekend.
A first-time fundraiser to aid those diagnosed with breast cancer, it is planned for July 9.
The day’s activities will include a motorcycle poker run, a 5K Run/Walk, a chicken barbecue, music and
prizes. The starting point for all activities will be Friendly Ron’s Cafe in Wayne.
A highlight of the fundraiser will be the display of the recently completed "Trucking for the
Cure" semi truck, with cab and two trailers brightly painted in a corresponding pink and white
logo. Truck owner Don Bowling of Bowling Transportation and Brian Foster, of Foster Auto Repair LLC in
Wayne, recently completed the truck to raise awareness of breast cancer. Foster was painter and builder
for the creative project.
The barbecued chicken will be served from 11:30 a.m. until it runs out.
Music will be provided by Anson Beasley of Mr. Beasley’s DJ and Karaoke Service.
Poker run participation is $20 for a single rider and $10 for the second rider. First bike out is at
10:30 a.m. and last bike in is at 4 p.m. The first 200 registrants will receive a T-shirt. In addition,
there will be a cash prize for the best poker hand.
The 5K begins at 9 a.m., with registration starting at 8. Age divisions are 10 and under, 11-15, 16-24,
25-40, 41-49, 50-69, and over 70.
All participants must sign a release the day of the event.
5K entries are $25 per person, non-refundable, for those 10 and over, and $15 per person for anyone under
10.
Awards will be given to the top male and female in each age division. The first 200 run/walk participants
will also receive a T-shirt.
Poker run and 5K registration will be accepted at Friendly Ron’s on July 9 or in advance, by mailing
registration information and payment (check made payable to Trucking for the Cure) to Friendly Ron’s
Cafe, P.O. Box 277, Wayne, Ohio 43466. Provide name, address, phone, email, whether male or female, age
on race day, whether the registrant will be participating in the 5K or the poker run, and if the
registrant is a cancer survivor. Also requested is T-shirt size (small, medium, large, extra large or
extra-extra large) or youth sizes small, medium or large.
All proceeds from the day will benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
