Prep Roundup: Schorsch, Hoops advance to district tennis final (05-19-11)

Perrysburg’s boys doubles team of Jeffrey Schorsch and David Hoops advanced to the Division I district
semifinals.
The matches were played held at the Perrysburg Tennis Center Wednesday.
The Yellow Jacket duo beat Southview’s Darren Ng and Michael Udell, 6-2, 6-4; and Lexington’s Andy
Barkett and Jon McCarther, 6-4, 6-0.
Schorsch and Hoops play Madhav Mehta and Connor Majdalani from Toledo St. John’s in the semifinals for a
spot in the state tournament. The top two doubles teams and individual placers advance to the state
tournament beginning May 27 at Hilliard Davidson High School.
Perrysburg’s Nate Mowery and Brad Merillat beat Northview’s Spencer Georgetti and Jimmy Stevens, 7-6
(8-6), 6-2 in the opening round before losing to Findlay’s Connor Hoban and Chikara Oshima, 6-3, 4-6,
7-6 (7-2).
In Division I singles play, Toledo St. John’s Bobby Adumisilli beat Perrysburg’s Troy Weider, 6-1,3-6,
6-2.
Malcolm Leake from Fremont Ross beat Bowling Green’s Mitchell Bils, 6-0, 6-0. Austen Hammett from Madison
Comprehensive beat Bowling Green’s Michael Mota, 6-1, 6-1.
DISTRICT TRACK
DIVISION II
At Oak Harbor High School, Eastwood advanced four individuals to next week’s regional meet at Lexington,
and Otsego’s Ian Fleetwood won a district title in long jump.
The Eagles’ girls’ Whitney Hoodlebrink won the district title in the high jump, finishing with a height
of 5-1.
Fleetwood won the long jump with a distance of 20-10 1/4.
For the Eastwood boys, Jeff Rutherford finished third in the shot put with a throw of 52-0 1/2.
Kyle Schlumbohm, second, 14-6; and Kyle Dierker, third, 13-6; advanced in the pole vault.
The top four finishers in each event qualified for regionals, which begin May 26.
DIVISION I
Tiffin district meet postponed
In Tiffin, the Division I track meet at Tiffin Columbian scheduled was posted due to inclement weather.

All events will be contested on Friday.
Bowling Green is the only county team competing at Tiffin.

SOFTBALL
Northwood 18, Rogers 8
In Toledo, Northwood downed Rogers, 18-8 in a non-league game. The Rangers are 16-6 overall.
Northwood’s top hitters were: Cindy Szyperski, 4-for-5, double, four RBI; Sam Brisbin, 1-for-3, three
RBI; and Brianna Crispen, 1-for-2, three-run home run.
