Owens softball wins twice in nationals

NORMAL, Ill. — Owens Community College has advanced to the semifinals of the NJCAA Division II national
tournament with two wins on Thursday. Owens is now 41-3. Owens’ next game is Friday at noon against
LSU-Eunice the top seed in the tournament.
In the opener, Owens beat Mineral Area CC (Mo.), 7-2. Kristen Roznoski, Alaina Haubert and Michelle
Hollister each had two hits for Owens and Lindsey Bandeen hit a double. Jordan Ratliff got the win,
allowing eight hits and two earned runs while striking out four and not walking a batter.
In the second game, Owens slipped past Heartland CC (Ill.), 4-3. Bandeen was 3-for-4, including a two-RBI
triple. Ashleigh Whitacre, Matea Rice and Bridget Wolfe each added two hits for Owens. Owens has 12 hits
in the game, but left 11 runners on base.
Elizabeth Weber pitched the first four innings for Owens, allowing one run on three hits and a walk while
striking out three. Jordan Ratliff pitched the final three innings, allowing six hit and two runs with
one strike out. Heartland scored a run in the bottom of the seventh and had two on with one out, but
