BGSU faculty earn promotions, granted tenure

A number of Bowling Green State University faculty reached milestones in their careers when they were
granted promotion, some with tenure, by the board of trustees earlier this month.
Ten faculty were promoted to full professor: Edmond Kanwischer, School of Art; Dr. David Meel,
mathematics and statistics; Dr. Jeffrey Peake, political science; Dr. Michael Zickar, psychology; Dr.
Richard McGrath, applied statistics and operations research; Dr. Earl McKinney, accounting and
management information systems; Dr. Sachidanandam Sakthivel, accounting and management information
systems; Mark Munson, music education; Dr. Stan Guidera, architecture and environmental design; and Dr.
Andreas Luescher, architecture and environmental design.
Granted tenure were Dr. Raymond Swisher, sociology, and Dr. David Reid, marketing.
Granted tenure and promotion to associate professor were: Dr. Vibha Bhalla, ethnic studies; Dr. Rieuwert
Blok, mathematics and statistics; Dr. Michael Butterworth, school of media and communication; Dr. Eileen
Cherry-Chandler, theatre and film; Dr. Elmas Irmak, mathematics and statistics; Dr. Melissa Miller,
political science; Dr. Shannon Orr, political science; Dr. Sung-Yeon Park, school of media and
communication; Dr. Junfeng Shang, mathematics and statistics; Dr. Karen Sirum, biological sciences; Dr.
Alexander Tarnovsky, chemistry; Dr. Allison Terry, School of Art; Dr. Michael Weber, philosophy; Dr.
Lyudmila Chernykh, finance; Dr. Luis Garcia, accounting and management information systems; Dr. Man
Zhang, management; Dr. Pamela Bechtel, School of Human Movement, Sport and Leisure Studies; Dr. Emilio
Duran, School of Teaching and Learning; Dr. Bob Lee, School of Human Movement, Sport and Leisure
Studies; Dr. Michael Kimaid, natural and social sciences; Dr. Lauren Katz, communication sciences and
disorders; Dr. Charles Stelle, human services; Andrew Pelletier, music performance studies; and Terry
Herman, visual communication and technology education.
Promoted to senior lecturer were: Stacey Dudley, School of Teaching and Learning; Dr. Susan Peet, School
of Family and Consumer Sciences; Cynthia Ross, School of Teaching and Learning; Christopher Schommer,
School of Human Movement, Sport and Leisure Studies; Debra Zappitelli, School of Family and Consumer
Sciences; Dr. Kerry Fan, architecture and environmental design.
Promoted to lecturer were: Ramune Braziunaite, School of Media and Communication; Sara Chambers, theatre
and film; Dr. Steven Chung, chemistry; Dr. Lori Liggett, School of Media and Communication; Dr. Geoffrey
Stephenson, theatre and film; and Cynthia Bailey, applied sciences.
