BG’s Stratton earns MAC honor
Cleveland – Bowling Green’s Erika Stratton has been named The Mid-American Conference East softball
player of the week.
A freshman catcher, Stratton had one of the most remarkable games in BGSU history, leading the Falcons to
a 12-inning, 7-6 win over then-MAC leader Ball State.
After going 38 games to start her career without a home run, Stratton became the first player in program
history to hit three in one game. Ball State built a 5-0 lead but Stratton’s first homer got the Falcons
on the board in the bottom of the third inning. She tied the score with a solo blast in the bottom of
the sixth and won the game with a walk-off homer in the bottom of the 12th.
Stratton added a double in the eighth inning and finished with 14 total bases, just two shy of the NCAA
Division I record.
