Lake High School has announced that the 2011 Prom will be held compliments of Mel and Barb Ayers of
Nagoya Japanese Steakhouse and Sushi, and the staff of the Hilton Garden Inn, Perrysburg.
Prom will be Friday, and 220 students and 10 staff members are expected to participate in the dinner
activities at Nagoya, and even more to join the dance at the Hilton. The after prom will be held at
Owens Community College.
"Mel (Ayers) approached us last fall and offered to help with the prom," said Lee Herman,
principal of Lake High School. "It takes a lot of consideration for us to make these events special
for the students. Mel was quite generous in his offer, and when the Hilton got involved and offered to
help do the planning, it seemed like something that would be very special and memorable in a positive
way for the students."
Nagoya, along with Sysco Foods out of Cleveland, is donating the dinners for the students and staff.
"We are going to serve the students at the Hibachi tables and give them an entertaining show and
fantastic meal for their special night," said Mel Ayers, owner of Nagoya. "We’re so happy we
can do it for them after everything they’ve overcome this last year."
In June 2010, Lake High School was hit and destroyed by a tornado. The school district is in the process
of rebuilding.
The Hilton Garden Inn at Levis Commons will be hosting the prom from 7 to 11 p.m. Friday. The Hilton is
donating the use and set-up of the Grand Ballroom as well as refreshments and desserts for the
attendees.
