John T. Norvell, 85, of Davenport, Iowa, died Saturday, April 16, 2011 at Good Samaritan Center,
Davenport.
Graveside services honoring his life were held April 20th at the National Cemetery, Rock Island,
Illinois. Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport, is assisting his family with the arrangements.
Mr. Norvell was born in 1926 in Franklin, Ohio, to Alfred and Alma Norvell.
He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II.
On December 2, 1967, he married Mona E. Hultquist in Davenport. He worked for Caterpillar Tractor, Mt.
Joy, as an inventory control clerk, retiring in 1988.
John was an avid bowler and Chicago Cubs fan. A sweet, loving and caring man, he was loved by all and was
a best friend to all who knew him.
He was a proud life long Union Democrat.
He is survived by his wife, Mona; daughters, Judy (Sonny) Chapa of Visalia, California, Sheri Higgins of
Nipomo, California, and Theresa Jackson of Davenport; sons, John A. Norvell of Davenport, Neil (Diane)
Norvell of Exeter, California, Larry Crull of Ft. Worth, Texas and Gary (Linda) Crull of Decatur,
Illinois; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; sisters, Pauline Haise of Davenport, and Ruth Otto
of Bowling Green, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Granville, "Pete," and a sister, Mary Ellen
(Russell) Belcher.
Memorials may be made to cancer research or Alzheimer’s research.
