Donald King Enholm, 75, of Bowling Green, passed away on Friday, April 15, 2011 at Bridge Hospice in
Bowling Green.
He was born May 27, 1935 in Omaha, Nebraska to Hugh and Ethel Enholm, and married Sue Enholm in 1955. She
survives, along with daughter Kirsten Palmer and son-in-law Dave Palmer of Mansfield, Ohio; son Charles
Enholm of Bowling Green; son Eric Enholm and daughter-in-law Gann Enholm of Gainesville, Florida; and
two granddaughters, Zoe and Zane, also of Gainesville. He is also survived by two brothers, Charles
Enholm of Orange, California, and Ted Enholm of Omaha, Nebraska; and one sister, Susan Perkins and
brother-in-law Ron Perkins, of Orange, California.
Donald briefly attended Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas, receiving his undergraduate degree from
Pepperdine University in Los Angles, California. He earned his Master’s degree at Emporia State
University in Emporia, Kansas, and his Ph.D. from the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas.
He taught and was a debate coach at Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas.
Dr. Enholm was Associate Professor Emeritus of the School of Communication Studies and taught at Bowling
Green State University for 35 years from 1973 until his retirement in 2008, serving as Department Chair
during that time. In 1988 he was named College Teacher of the Year by the Speech Communication
Association of Ohio.
He had a great interest in the German Resistance movement during World War II, dearly loved collecting
German and American stamps, and enjoyed visiting used book stores.
A memorial service with family members will be held at a later date.
