Bowling Green Exchange Club recognizes area youth

The Bowling Green Exchange Club again is recognizing area youth for the good things they’ve accomplished
this past year.
The Exchange Club’s Positive Start program asks teachers to honor students who have done something
positive. Students must live in the Bowling Green School District and be in grades 7 or 8.
A luncheon will be held Tuesday at Stone Ridge Golf Club to honor all 99 students. The guest speaker at
the luncheon will be Kevin Basch, president of the Undergraduate Student Senate at Bowling Green State
University.
This is the third of four installments, and students are listed alphabetically.
Sanjiv Kolla has improved his ability to stay on task and participate in math class. He comes to class at
Bowling Green Middle School prepared daily with his assignments completed. His work is well above
average. Sanjiv is a very positive eighth-grade student.
Josh Kurfess is a very hard worker. He has a great sense of humor as well. Josh also plays football and
baseball at Bowling Green Middle School. He is a very positive eighth-grade student.
Devin LaPolt plays volleyball and is a member of EZ Plus. She participates in Horizon Youth Theater and
Premier volleyball. She is responsible for chores at home, and she performed at Cedarville for band and
choir.
Troy Loescher is active in the middle school basketball and track teams. He contributes to the school by
volunteering at the field house and in the middle school office. Troy has a very positive attitude.
Aidan Markey is a very strong student. His work often exceeds teachers’ expectations. He participates in
cross country and basketball. He was honored as Student of the Quarter, and he is admired for his
abilities and attitude.
Matt LeMaster is a member of jazz band. He is very helpful at home. He received a first place honor in at
a Cedar Point soccer tournament, and second in the Beaver Creek tournament. He is a 4-H member.
Alex Mantez is a very hard worker. She was selected as a Student of the Month earlier this year, and she
volunteers to work in the library. Alex participated in student council and Safety Patrol in sixth
grade, and she continues her participation in seventh grade activities.
Marisa Martinez has a positive attitude in foreign language class. She is a hard-working student, and she
is always smiling and respectful of people around her. She is helpful to her peers and teachers. It is a
real pleasure to have her in class.
Clark Mayberry participates in basketball, band, hockey, Ohio Watchdog baseball and BG soccer. He
volunteers at Bittersweet Farms and mini-mite hockey. He is responsible for many household chores such
as mowing the lawn and shoveling snow. He has received many awards including the Golden Glove, December
Student of the Month and Healthy Character.
Andrew Mazey is an asset to any classroom. He has an infectious and positive attitude. Andrew works well
with all of his peers and treats everyone with respect. He is involved in 4-H and was on the wrestling
team. Andrew also plays baseball.
Zach McCurdy is a hard working student who is very involved in the community. He participates in Wood One
Wheelers, 4-H, the Junior Teen Institute, and Bowling Green Church of Christ youth group. In sixth grade
he received the Marilyn Hainen Citizenship Award.
Sam McDaniel is an outstanding student and athlete. He is a leader in the classroom and in athletics. Sam
is kind and helpful to his peers, and he respects adults. He is an outstanding member of the school
community.
Daija McKenney is a mature, hard-working student who is driven to do well in school. She is tolerant of
all and respectful to everyone she is around. Outside of school she is active with a plethora of sports
for fun. Her positive attitude is evident daily.
McKenzie Miller has been recognized for her great work ethic and positive attitude. She puts forth her
best effort in all classes and is a pleasure to have in class. McKenzie is an outstanding eighth-grade
student at Bowling Green Middle School.
Robert Monaco is an altar server at St. Aloysius Church. He is an office aide and avid volunteer at St.
Aloysius School. Robert enjoys being challenged in the classroom, and he serves as a positive role model
in all he does.
Kirah Morrison is a seventh grade student at Bowling Green Christian Academy. She has been recognized for
her steadfastness and quality in her school work. Kirah is a very positive student.
Michael Murphy is involved in soccer, cross country, and track. Michael also volunteers at the library.
He has a good work ethic and participates well in class.
David Myerholtz is the type of student every teacher would be lucky to have. You can count on him to
willingly lend a helping hand to both his peers and teachers and always puts out positive energy. David
always participates in class, and you can tell he strives to do his best.
Alisha Noon is a very dedicated, courteous, and well-rounded student. She does well in school and has
participated in quiz bowl. Outside of school, she is involved in bowling, martial arts, and other sports
which she excels in.
Grace O’Hare participates in band, jazz band, honors band, the archery team, and quiz bowl. She is also
active in theatre, including performing in productions for Horizon Youth Theatre, and in 4-H, including
representing Wood County at the Ohio State Fair.
Quentin Parker is an exceptionally hard worker, always striving to give his best. He takes his time and
goes beyond normal class time to achieve his goals. In his spare time, Quentin likes to read and spend
time outdoors.
Jesse Patton is an outgoing and active student. She participates in basketball, cross country, choir, and
EZ Plus. Jesse also is a library media assistant, volunteers for Safety Town, and is a member of the
Girl Scouts.
Drew Peterson is involved with basketball and volleyball. She also works with the concession stand, golf
team, and Ice Arena. She has received many skating medals, achievement awards, and cross country and
volleyball awards.
Matthew Pisarski is a member of Builders Club as well as band. He is an active member of St. Mark’s
Lutheran Church and the Boy Scouts. He is a positive person who always has a smile.
Nathan Ray is active in middle school football. He is an asset to the community by raking leaves,
shoveling snow, and mowing lawns.
Jessica Reed shows respect to her teachers as well as to her fellow students. She is very personable and
a loyal friend. She plays saxophone in band and in jazz band. She enjoys art and being creative.
