Plan for the Wood County Fair Flower Show
Now is the time to start thinking about exhibiting at this year’s Wood County Fair Flower Show. The theme
will be "Celebrations!"
Every year there are a few changes in the horticultural specimens. The special class rose for 2011 is
Veteran’s Honor and the special class zinnia is Queen Red Lime.
There are two new categories in the House and Patio Plant section. The first is Plant(s) in a unique
container up to 12-inches wide, and the second is a Succulent Garden with a minimum of three plants in a
shallow container up to 18 inches wide.
The artistic designs for adults and juniors will focus on holidays and other celebrations.
There will also be a workshop at the Home and Garden Building on July 30 from 8:30 – 10:30 a.m. to answer
any questions about how to exhibit and what judges look for in specimens and designs.

Michelle Obama to launch military support campaign
WASHINGTON (AP) – The White House says Michelle Obama and the vice president’s wife, Jill Biden, will
kick off a national effort on April 12 to increase public support for U.S. service members and their
families.
The new campaign will focus on four areas: employment, education, wellness and public awareness. The
county has a duty to help care for the 1 percent of the population serving in the military, they said.
