NORTHERN
LAKES LEAGUE
BOWLING GREEN
Coach: Jim Cress, second season.
Career record: 12-14.
2010 record: 12-14 overall, 7-7 in the NLL.
Returning letter winners: Seniors — Kara Maxey, third base; and Allie
Smith, outfield/second base. Juniors — Casey Akenberger,
pitcher/infield/outfielder; and Hayley Williford, catcher. Sophomore —
Kristi Eikenbery, second base.
Coach’s comment: “We have some strong players coming back to provide a
good foundation for this year’s team. Defensively, pitching should be
one of our strong points. We only have one outfielder returning, but as
the season progresses, we’ll be in good shape. Offensively, we have to
do a better job this year of putting the ball in play and getting people
on base, and so far in practices we’re doing a pretty good job hitting
off of live pitching. The effort by everyone has been good and we need
to sustain that throughout the season.”
PERRYSBURG
Coach: Ryan DeMars, second season.
Career record: Unavailable.
2010 record: 22-6 overall, 10-4 in the NLL (tied for second).
Returning letter winners: Seniors — Lindsay Rich, pitcher/first base;
Tori Plummer, shortstop; and Kayla Rice, third base. Juniors — Kimmy
Granata, catcher; Cammy Messenger, right field; and Ty Wilson, left
field. Sophomores — Katie Dunphy, first base; Raegan Vickers, center
field.
Coach’s comment: “Starters return defensively at all positions except
center field and second base. With eight returning letter winners and
seven of last year’s hitters back in the lineup, Perrysburg should be
solid with experience in the field and at the plate. Lindsay Rich is
back for her senior season where she will be expected to carry the bulk
of the pitching load after posting an 11-2 mark while splitting time
with Kim Bryson last year. This year’s team is very vocal about their
goal of winning an NLL and district title and making a run to the state.
In order to accomplish this goal, we will have to play solid defense
and get timely hitting. The key will be this group’s ability to play as a
team and work together toward a common goal. If this team plays to its
ability, there is no reason it cannot accomplish its goals.”
ROSSFORD
Coach: Tom Kralovic, 10th season.
Career record: 110-150.
2010 record: 7-19 overall, last in the NLL.
Returning letter winners: Seniors — Makayla McGee, shortstop; and
Cassidy Gauthier, catcher. Junior — Abby Stahl, pitcher/first base.
Coach’s comment: “Our goals are to win the NLL and a state championship.
Our expectations are to improve every day, so we can position ourselves
to accomplish our goals, be a solid defensive team and not give extra
outs to teams. We also need to get key hits during the course of the
season. Finally, we will need contributions from the 14 girls on the
team.”

Amanda Selhorst, outfield. Juniors — Saige Smith, outfield; and Hannah
Hirzel, infield.
Coach’s comment: “Our first goal is to be competitive and win the SLL,

positions due to graduation and injuries. The young players will need to
mature quickly, to along with last year’s all-league, all-district and
all-state pitcher.”

for a league title, but winning it. The SLL is laden with tremendous
teams and coaches that will make this goal very difficult.”
OTSEGO
Coach: Shawn Watson, first season.
Career record: 0-0.
2010 record: 4-20 overall, 1-11 in the SLL.
Returning letter winners: Seniors — Alexandra Bowen, outfield; Lindsay
Lehman, shortstop/outfield; and Felicia Armstrong, catcher/third base.
Sophomores — Hanna Ayer, pitcher; Emily Carson, catcher/first base; and
Karley Schutzberg, third base.
Coach’s comment: “We will be very athletic this season, but very young.
Our goal is to compete in every game that we play. We want to build a
program that our athletes can be proud of. I want the players to
understand why we do certain things instead of just being told what to
do. Softball is a game of reaction and unless you know why you do
certain things you can’t react correctly. We have great athletes in the
program, but athletic (ability) isn’t enough. We need to continue to
learn the intricacies of the game. We are progressing very well and I am
very proud of the strides that the girls have made. But we need to
continue to focus on the little things and the dynamics of the game. The
key to the season will be the players’ ability to play in the present
and focus on the now. We are trying to promote a positive environment
for the athletes to grow and have fun.”

TOLEDO AREA
ATHLETIC CONFERENCE
NORTHWOOD
Coach: Dan Fuller, 15th season.
Career record: 178-177.
2010 record: 8-15 overall, 3-5 in the TAAC (fourth).

Derr, pitcher/catcher/outfield; Becca Gwinn, infield/outfield; Allison

Coach’s comment: “We have struggled the last three years, but things are
looking up. We return six starters from last year’s team which includes
our three leading hitters. We have only one senior in Sammie Brisbin,
but she is special. If we stay healthy and our pitching continues to
improve, we will be a factor in our league.”
