WASHINGTON, D.C. – In anticipation of further rising energy prices, Congressman Bob Latta (R-Bowling
Green), a member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, introduced an energy resolution, H. Res.
162, which lowers energy prices and creates jobs.
The seven-point platform illustrates a comprehensive energy reform plan; the specific points are as
follows:
¥ Take advantage of America’s abundant domestic coal supply.
¥ Utilize recent technological innovations to exploit America’s vast supply of natural gas.
¥ Increase America’s domestic oil production and refining capacity.
¥ Expand use of renewable and alternative energy sources, with a focus on safe and clean nuclear energy.

¥ Promote and provide incentives for improving conservation and energy efficiency.
¥ Expand and promote additional research and development through new and innovative methods such as
public-private partnerships.
¥ Reduce our dependence on Middle Eastern oil through consumer awareness with respect to increasing
energy efficiency and available alternate fuel sources.
"The bill encourages an "all of the above" approach to energy, aiming to increase domestic
oil production while reducing dependence on foreign supplies, resulting in greater security and lower
energy prices across the board. With the latest jobless numbers and fuel price increases, we know
Ohioans can’t afford gas that is 65 cents higher from a year ago," said Latta.
