Bowling Green State University earned a Best of Show award and brought home the gold – along with the
silver and bronze – from the Addy Awards last week. Hosted by the Advertising Club of Toledo, the annual
event recognizes creativity in marketing, advertising and publications.
The BGSU Office of Marketing and Communications team, directed by Kim McBroom, chief communications
officer, and Fred Connor, senior director of marketing, had wins in multiple divisions.
The BGSU Centennial Fact Book: 100 Facts for 100 Years 1910-2010, written by Julie Carle and designed by
Jeff Artz, both of marketing and communications, took top honors at the event and won the gold in the
Book Design category. With photographs by university photographers Craig Bell and Brad Phalin and
contributions by Dana Nemeth and Steve Charter of the Center for Archival Collections, the small
flipbook provided a witty and original look back at BGSU’s first century.
Additional awards and their categories included:
¥ "BGSU Football 2010," a video spot, won two awards – a gold Addy for sound design and a
silver award in the Local TV category – in collaboration with Madhouse and Level 2 Audio.
¥ "Falcon Duo," a poster for BGSU men’s and women’s athletics: silver Addy in the Digitally
Enhanced Photography category, Craig Bell, photographer
¥ "It Starts Today," a video: bronze Addy in the Video Sales Presentation category, in
collaboration with Madhouse and Level 2 Audio
"Our team brings all their creative energy to projects, and we’re happy to be recognized by our
peers in the industry for our efforts," McBroom said.
