Sentinel nominated for AP awards

Two Sentinel-Tribune staff members have been chosen as finalists for six awards in the 2010 Associated
Press of Ohio Newspaper Division II Contest.
Division II is for daily newspapers with circulation between 8,000 and 12,999.
Sentinel County Editor Jan Larson is one of three finalists for the Best News Writer; and her story
titled "Forced From Home" about a foreclosure standoff in Stony Ridge is nominated for the
Best Breaking News award.
Photographer J.D. Pooley is nominated in several categories, Best Photographer; Best General News Photo
for "Horse Drawn Wagon," featuring a funeral cortege in Weston; Best Spot News Photo for
"Front Door Wreck" for a photo after a vehicle crashed through the front of LaRoe’s Restaurant
in Grand Rapids; and Best Photo Essay for "Tornado Destroys Local Community" for photos in the
aftermath of the June 5 Lake Township tornado.
Ranked awards will be presented later this spring at the annual meeting of the Associated Press of Ohio
held in Columbus.
