Sheriff’s detective causes crash near Bradner

BRADNER – A non-injury accident involving a Wood County sheriff’s detective was reported Saturday in the
village.
According to the Wood County Sheriff’s Office, at 4:22 p.m. a 2000 Ford Explorer driven by Allen Older,
Bradner, was traveling southbound on Main Street at the intersection of Caldwell Street when it was
struck by a 2006 Dodge Ram driven by Det. Sgt. Terry James. According to the report, James failed to
yield after stopping at the stop sign.
Speaking this morning, Sheriff Mark Wasylyshyn said a citation would probably not be issued in the crash,
stating that at present deputies have discretion as to whether or not to issue citations in a crash
without injuries or with only minor damage, which he said was the case in this incident. He said that a
policy of issuing citations in damage crashes where fault can be determined is being discussed.
The accident report was reviewed, he said, and James was not treated differently than those in other
minor crashes which occurred.
